LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville residents voiced their opinions about the qualities they would like to see in the city’s next police chief. Metro Council members led the meetings tonight at the NIA Center and the Newburg Community Center.
Residents listened to speakers who say they want a police chief who will stay connected with the community.
One woman that WHAS11 spoke with also says she hopes the next police chief will hold officers to a high standard.
“I like the idea that Chief White wasn’t afraid of disciplining his own police officers regardless of what the community felt – and previously – with most of those discharges or suspensions – they held ground and he stood by his decisions,” said Norma Maddox, a resident of Louisville.
The city hopes to name an interim police chief in the coming days and a permanent replacement by April.
