LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Another Military Makeover recipient was revealed on Great Day Live! Wednesday and this time a Louisville woman who served during World War II is featured.

Margaret Kelsey joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. It was WWII, her 20th birthday and the day she could finally follow her heart to San Francisco where her boyfriend Jack was serving in the military.

Margaret and Jack became engaged and married in California – a wedding day that began nearly 50 years of marriage and included five children and seven grandchildren.

After their time in the service, Margaret and Jack began their college educations and studied at the University of Louisville. Margaret was valedictorian in high school , as well as one of the top in her class at UofL.

When jack passed away from cancer in 1994 Margaret became a hospice volunteer.

She followed the philosophy of her beloved great-grandmother who taught her that the important things in life are sharing, caring and giving.

Now, it’s time for Margaret to have something nice done for her and Active Heroes surprised with a gift card.

Margaret turns 89 in August and will celebrate a lifetime of love, laughter and service that inspires those around her.
