(WHAS11)  Louisville Metro Police officers took some time off the streets Saturday to take kids on a shopping spree!
Twenty-five children were selected for this year’s Second Division “Shop with a Cop” program.
With the help of donations from area businesses, and metro tax dollars, each child got to spend $200 on clothing, toys, and gifts for their families.
After their shopping spree at the Walmart on Shelbyville Road , it was off to lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse!

(WHAS11)  Some local elves were breaking out the bows and ribbon for a city-wide gift wrapping event Saturday.
It’s part of the “Be a Santa to a Senior” program.
You can sponsor a senior by picking up an ornament on trees at three local Walmarts.
One program spokesperson said, “A lot of seniors are putting down needs such as robes, toilet paper, lotion, stuff we take for granted ; we sure could use help for gifts to seniors.”
The participtaing Walmarts are those in Middletown, Fern Creek, and Bashford Manor.
You can also help wrap gifts this Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m., or next Saturday the 12th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at “Home Instead Senior Care” on Taylorsville Road.

(WHAS11)  Man does not live on water alone, but a local minister has had only water now for five days.
Pastor David Miller, of St. Stephen Church, has been fasting and camping out on top of an 18-wheeler at 9008 Dixie Highway.
He plans to stay at this spot until he gets 10,000 donated items for underprivileged children and families.
Miller said people have been driving from all over Kentucky to drop off donations, such as winter clothing, canned goods and toys.

(WHAS11)  The Junior League of Louisville is hosting its fourth annual “Hollydays” this weekend.
The art and gift market benefits community projects to help women, children, and families at risk.
The event features “Story time with Santa,” ornament making by Glassworks, and of course shopping!
“Hollydays” continues Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mellwood Arts Center.
