(WHAS11) Two local politicians are issuing a warning this Halloween to check for sex offenders in your neighborhood, before taking your children trick-or-treating.

Senator Dan Seum and Metro Council member Doug Hawkins said there are 40 sex offenders living in one apartment complex, in the 6500 block of Hackel Drive.
Both said there is nothing illegal going on there, but called the situation “unacceptable.”
“We have registered sex offenders living everywhere in this community.  Every zip code has them. It just so happens, we have the highest concentration in four zip codes out here,” said Hawkins.
WHAS11 talked to those who run the apartment complex, off camera. They said they’ve never spoken with Doug Hawkins, and said some sex offenders have since moved.
To find out where sex offenders are living in your area, we’ve provided a link to the site in this story; or just go to the WHAS11 News Links on the Home Page.
