LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- A local man is making an effort to help homeless and people in need throughout Kentuckiana.

Ben Gordon, an employee at Care Security in Louisville, has organized a charity called “Love Pack” that focuses on collecting goods for homeless people.

“The basis of the charity is ordinary people doing extraordinary things,” Gordon said.  “We want to directly impact our local are ourselves and our community.  Right now we are in a recession and it’s hard.”

Gordon said a benefit concert is scheduled and attendees are encouraged to bring goods they can put into a backpack and hand out to homeless people, directly.

“Kentuckiana hasn’t forgotten about its people,” he said.

The benefit concert is set for Saturday, September 28 at Dillinger’s Music Venue in New Albany. Featured guests will the The Whiskey Riders, Field of Kings and Ranger.  Admission is $5 or $5 worth of canned goods or a donation of clothing.
