LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A La Grange, Kentucky woman is one of three finalists for a recording session at Martina McBride’s studio called Blackbird, in Nashville.

Win or lose, she said it’s been the chance of a lifetime.

Emily Martin is taking me us on a musical trip down memory lane. From her time on a cruise ship performing a chorus line, doing musical theatre as Snow White, to singing at Disney’s Epcot.

Now, she spends most of her time raising her two children, James and Ella, but she wants them to know to never give up on their dreams.

That's what Emily wrote in an essay for a singing contest on Katie Couric's show.

Part of her inspiration, her musical grandmother, who performed with the best of them, but gave up a lot when she got married.

Emily is ready to prove you can do it all: Juggle children, a marriage and a career that just needs a little jumpstart . . . and this could be it.

So, she jumped in her car for her audition song on the Katie show.

Yes, her car.  She said she drove to the Wal-Mart parking lot down the street, because with children, her home is never quiet!

That performance landed Emily in the final three. One of the other finalists is a 15-year-old from Corbin, Kentucky, who Emily said is a sweet young man.

She won't give away who won, even though she's already taped the show that announces the winner. The episode runs tomorrow.

Emily is like her music, full of life and passion, and this is her biggest platform yet.

Emily Martin . . . mother, wife and singer, and no matter what happens, we think she is great.
