LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS) -- It’s no secret that Ashley Judd loves the University of Kentucky basketball team, but she also roots for another team in Kentucky.
WHAS11 had the chance to interview her Wednesday - Judd talked about the upcoming tournament games, her family and where she’ll be watching UK.
Whether she’s wearing her UK shirt or walking the red carpet for a Hollywood event, Judd said she bleeds blue. She also said she has a game plan for the Cats to advance in the NCAA tournament.
“I think that we have to get out of the second round UConn or Iowa State can be a tough game for us. UConn is incredibly talented and then Iowa State when they are playing well can really make those 3’s and at times that’s been that has been a little bit of a challenge for us,” Judd said.
She knows her stuff, but she won’t be at the game Thursday's game between UK and Western Kentucky.
“I can’t. The flights from New York don’t get me to Louisville in time for the game that kind of made the decision for me. Although, in a way I think it will be quite sweet. I will be at home watching the game with my niece and nephew,” she said.
But Judd said she will be in town for the tournament with a special guest.
“I will be there on Saturday with my Uncle Mark. We have been having quite a fun season together when we beat North Carolina at Rupp Arena we had a great picture taken with the Wildcat in the background and I had it printed and framed for him in the sterling silver frame with an engraving of the date and the score. So, we are hoping to frame some more pictures,” Judd said.
While she bleeds blue, she said does have room in her heart for red.
“I’m a UofL fan as well. I’m one of those Kentuckians who wants to support all things Kentucky,” Judd said.
