LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – With the threat of snow this weekend, people have some strong opinions about our weird winter weather so far.

While it has been hard this winter to diagnose what Mother Nature's next move will be, the lack of snow and ice has not really bothered those WHAS11 talked with.

By this time last year we had already showed you how to prepare your automobile for winter weather and we were there as people prepared for winter storms, stocking up at grocery stores.

But so far this year, Mother Nature’s bark has been worse than her bite.

"Why do you think people get so crazy when it comes to the weather?" asked Mike Colombo

"I've never quite figured that out…you see people head to the store for an inch of snow, I'm like why?” responded Ken Scaggs, of Fort Thomas.

Those who drive for a living sure aren’t complaining about the warm weather.

"You hate to see it when it gets snowy because it makes you job so much more difficult?” asked Colombo.

"So much more difficult…a lot of people on the road and traffic. The bad weather nights can be very bad, we drive slow on the roads always," said cab driver Gary Mohamud.

And since we cannot control what comes from the sky, we can only be ready for whatever snow does or doesn't come.

"There's not too much you can do about it. You just have to deal with it as it comes.  Don't get too excited about it and try to stay away from the crazies," added Scaggs.

For more perspective on the weather, a representative from the city tells WHAS11 that at this time last year, Metro Louisville had spent about $3.2 million on snow events. This year only about $680,000 has been spent.
