Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - The interim president at Kentucky State University gave up more than $90,000 of his own money so low-paid workers could get a raise.

Burse previously led the university from 1982 to 1989.

Burse told school officials he would work for less money so employees making minimum wage could get $10 an hour.

The board unanimously approved the request.
