Louisville, Ky. - The Louisville Zoo has been selected as a finalist in Toyota's "100 Cars for Good" program which will award 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days to 100 deserving nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public. The voting day for the Zoo is July 20, 2011.
The Zoo is one of 500 non-profit organizations chosen as a finalist and will compete on July 20th with five other nonprofit organizations (none of which are local) to receive a Toyota vehicle of their choice for use in the community. If the Zoo is the winner, the vehicle will be used for the "Zoo To You" program which brings Zoo educators and animals right into the classrooms of primarily underserved elementary schools across the Commonwealth.
Voting takes place on the Toyota Facebook page at www.facebook.com/toyota <http://www.facebook.com/toyota> where the Zoo will be featured on the July 20 voting day. Voters may place one vote.
A vehicle will be awarded daily through August 16 for a total of 100 vehicles. Winning organizations can choose from the following vehicles: Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Tundra, Highlander Hybrid, Sienna, or Sienna Mobility. With each vehicle, Toyota Financial Services will provide a six-year 100,000 mile Toyota Vehicle Service Agreement to help provide extended protection from mechanical breakdowns beyond the vehicle warranty.
