LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A school project at Johnson Traditional Middle School has children helping children with a penny war to raise money for the WHAS Crusade for Children.
Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students collected an amazing total in one week: $3,378.23.
The sixth graders collected the most and took home the trophy.
"We had a team that won four years i a row, and so, they were taunting the other teams and I think that's what really helped us to increase the amount that was given this year," Dr. Shalonda Gregory said.
the money raised by the students will be added to the total collected by Jefferson County Public Schools and presented to the Crusade on Sat., June 7.
