(WHAS11) Six people are still in the running to become the next superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools.
Saturday, the County Board of Education met for five hours and was able to cut a group of 28 applicants down to six. The School Board and Search Committee will interview the semifinalists in private on May 25 and May 27, before announcing the names of finalists on June 1.
The public will have a chance to attend several question and answer sessions with the finalists on June 7, 8 and 9.
Current superintendent Sheldon Berman's four year contract was not renewed by the school board last fall. Berman’s last day as superintendent is June 30.
