(WHAS11) -- The Iroquois Amphitheater is celebrating its 75th anniversary--in a very big way.

A legendary musician and best-selling author are just two of the acts who will be stopping by in the summer of 2013.

Hard to believe it's the 75th anniversary of the Iroquois Amphitheater but Mayor Greg Fischer thinks it will be the strongest year yet.

“We have some great neighborhoods and some iconic landmarks and when you put the amphitheater together with Iroquois Park clearly you see a lot of that coming together so it's just a great place to play,” Fischer said.

Everything kicks off later on April 26.

“In this 75th season at Iroquois Amphitheater, a hometown band that is really beginning to burst onto the national scene and that's Houndmouth, the Houndmouth guys are here…go ahead and wave to the crowd come on Houndmouth!” Fischer said.

Other guests include hot names like the local natives and rock and blues singer Gregg Allman. But that's not all.

Fischer says the focus on theater spans all season long, and the monthly movie series is a big draw for families. To continue to improve the space, Metro Parks is offering a new incentive for guests--seat sponsoring.

“For a tax deductible donation of $100 you can have your name or the name of a loved one inscribed on the seat of your choosing,” Mike Slaton, Iroquois Amphitheater manager, said.

With an expanded picnic area and more dining options, Fischer says the Iroquois Amphitheater is unmatched in the region.

“Each year the word spreads out more and more and more and more people are coming to the amphitheater so spread the word,” Fischer said.
