Interview: Baptist Sports Medicine Head Injury Symposium

Join Baptist Health Sports Medicine for a symposium focusing on preventing concussions and other head injuries during sporting events from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at Baptist Health Sports Medicine, 2400 Eastpoint Pkwy., Louisville, Ky., 40223. The program is for parents, coaches and athletic trainers.

From 9-10 a.m., Neurologist Tracy Eicher, MD, will discuss "Evaluation and Management of Sports Concussions," with time for questions and answers.

After the talk, attendees may rotate through these 15-minute sessions:

    Mark Puckett, MD, family and sports medicine, will discuss "On-Field Evaluation of Head Injuries, When & Where to Seek Treatment"
    Neurocom balance and mobility assessment equipment, demonstration and discussion
    ImPACT testing demo - used to assist in determining an athlete's ability to return to play after suffering a concussion

Also, have your student athlete fitted for a helmet for football, lacrosse or baseball by Shively Sporting Goods staff members, and receive a $20 discount on helmets purchased at the event.

Continental breakfast will be available. Attendees may enter a drawing for a free 1-month Baptist Health Sports Medicine trial performance training membership ($230 value), T-shirts and other prizes.
