(WHAS 11)--The first Annual Valley High School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at half-time of the Valley vs Pleasure Ridge Park football game. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and the induction ceremony will begin around 8:30 p.m.
Valley High School in conjunction with the school's Alumni Association will induct 8 new Hall of Fame members and will recognize the current 3 members of the Hall of Fame.
Over the school's 77 year history around 15,000 students have graduated from Valley and hundreds if not thousands have gone to very successful careers. The Hall of Fame is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate these Vikings and others in the school system and Valley community who have played such a significant role in the Valley High School story.
To be inducted are:
Dr. James Allen - Dentist - Founder of Dentistry for Special Needs and Chief of Dental Services Kosair Hospital
Conrad Bachmann- Founded Louisville Film Arts Institute - Produces Louisville's International Festival of Film
Dr. Barbara Burch - Provost Vice President for Academic Affairs Emeritus and Interim President of Western Kentucky University
Marshall Goldsmith - Author / Professor - Recognized by Harvard Business Review as the #1 Leadership Thinker in the World
Leonard Kaufman - Past Chairman, CEO and President of Stock Yards Bank
L. Maxwell Sanders - (1899-1966) - Past Chairman and President of Stock Yards Bank, Pastor Valley Christian Church and Chairman of Valley Station Committee establishing Valley High School in 1936
Tom Seals - (1944-2010) - Twice All-American NAIA football player at Georgetown College
Dr. Richard VanHoose - (1910-1998) - Former Principal Valley High School and Superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools
The three current members of the Hall of Fame will also be recognized:
J.C. Cantrell - (1914-2002) - Former Valley Principal and Deputy Superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools
Dr. Kern Alexander - Former President of Murray State University and Western Kentucky University
Larry Franklin - Graduate of United States Naval Academy, Retired Two-Star Navy Admiral and Attorney
