LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Now to an academic challenge that the Louisville Free Public Library is ready to give you a head start on!

It's all part of getting your kids ready for kindergarten.

The name of the program is 1,000 Books and Mayor Greg Fischer kicked it off earlier this week at the Louisville Free Public Library.

New studies show, only 35 percent of incoming kindergartners, in Jefferson County, were prepared for school. The library is hoping to change that and it all kicks off on Saturday, Jan. 24.
