LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The WHAS Crusade for Children is proud that for 60 years 100 percent of the money given to the Crusade during the charity's annual June telethon goes back out to help children with special needs.

The crusade is able to do that because of its endowment. Crusade CEO Dawn Lee is here to tell us about a special program called "Building the Future" which is coming up Saturday night, Dec. 14, a program designed to grow the endowment and guarantee the Crusade's next 60 years.

"Building the Future" runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 on WHAS11. Melissa Swan and Terry Meiners will host children and families who have been helped by everyone's generosity to the Crusade.

Last year, it raised $1.4 million--100 percent of the money raised goes straight to help special needs children in our area.
