LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Hundreds of motorcyclists hit the open road on Sunday to support Kosair Children's Charities.

It was all part of the 13th Annual Sam Swope Charity Ride.

550 motorcyclists rode to The Makers Mark Distillery in Loretta, Kentucky and got a tour of the facilities.

Everyone got to enjoy a 130 mile scenic ride and the satisfaction of knowing that they're helping Kosair Charities.

Don Smith the Chairman of The Sam Swope Charity Ride said “It’s quite an operation. It’s a lot of hard work by a lot of people, but in the end its all well worth it to take care of the kids.”

Last year this event raised $160,000.

Ride Chairman Don Smith says even though the final total hasn't been calculated for this year, they expect to double that number.
