LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- In recent years, the market for adult Halloween costumes has grown, but it's not just the adults that are buying them. Stores are cashing in on the sexy Halloween costume trend.
"Wow! It's not just the ladies anymore," said concerned parent, Melanie Highland.
"We went to the zoo, and it was interesting to see the girls maybe ten plus wearing really short skirts and low tops. But what do you do?" said Highland.
At Caulfield’s Novelty store, Tracy Caulfield said there is a demand for these type of adult costumes.
"People like to be sexy but not over the top in our community. So we do buy the sexy ones, not the outlandish," said Caulfield.
Caulfield’s Novelty has a teen section for costumes but some parents are actually bringing their young girls to buy racier costumes instead. Some costumes are labeled, indicating the outfit is for ages 14 and up.
A sexier version of 'Honey Boo Boo' is a popular choice this year.
"A toddler and tiara character is popular, not just for some women, but some men dressing up in it as well," said Caulfield.
