MADISON, Ind. (WHAS11)- Work is almost finished on more than $8 million in repairs to the Madison, Ind. courthouse that was gutted by fire two years ago.
Jefferson County officials expect to be able to take possession of the courthouse early July.
The May 2009 fire consumed the courthouse's gold-domed bell and clock tower and destroyed the roof.
Furniture and computer networking systems will need to be installed before the courthouse can reopen.
The fire was started by a welder, who was doing work on copper downspouts.
