LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Assumption High School is known for turning young women into young leaders.   On Dec. 1, three Assumption sophomores will be leading the way to help people with developmental disabilities.

Maddie Cardosi, Hannah Lane and Erin Burnham are taking their high school leadership project into the real world and making it count for others.  The Assumption Trio created the Cedar Lake Lodge Jingle Jog.   The 2-mile walk at Norton Commons will raise awareness and greatly needed funds for Cedar Lake Lodge, an organization that helps support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Besides raising money, the Jingle Jog has taught the young women about business practices, how to get insurance coverage and apply for government permits.    They also learned about getting publicity for their cause.

The Cedar Lake Jingle Jog is sponsored by the YMCA in Norton Commons . The walk will start and end at the YMCA.  Registration online is $10 and $15 on walk day. Children under 5 are free. There will be drinks, a bake sale and activities for kids. Immediately following there is a Holiday Festival at Norton Commons from 6 to 10 p.m. where there will be Carriage rides and photos with Santa too.

You can get more info on the YMCA’s website.
