(WHAS11) -- New pictures have been released of the Gilles family of Henryville. Trish and her 8-year-old daughter Mia reunited for the first time since the tornado outbreak March 2.

The new photos show hugs, smiles and joy for a family that barely survived Friday’s tornadoes.

They were all in the closet of their home when the monster storm came through. Their home was lifted off its foundation and thrown more than 300 yards - all with them still inside.

When the second storm came through, injured father Darrell said he found a piece of dry wall, covered the kids and squeezed them tight. After the storms passed, the whole family was taken to the hospital.

Trish and Darrell have since had surgery - Darrell may be released from the hospital in a few days but Trish has a longer road to recovery.

Mia was released Tuesday and was happy to see her mom.

Eleven-year-old Caleb, whose back was broken, is still at Kosair Children's Hospital – the new photos show him standing for the first time since that fateful day.

Miraculously, the Gilles 10-year-old son was not injured.

This is the first of many reunions for this family - they said they long for the day to all be together again.
