LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A series of new grants aimed at making Louisville a healthier place to live were announced on Friday, August 30.

The Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement awarded grants ranging from $1500 to more than $4000 to ten local organizations.

The grants will help fund a range of projects like a gardening camp, a bike therapy program and counseling for special needs children.

These efforts are part of a community-wide effort to reduce rates of obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
