Stormteam Meteorologists Kristin Walls and Reed Yadon are heading out now to run 26.2 miles through a devastated New York City. New Yorkers take pride in their strength to push on through tragedy and they will again this weekend as the NYC Marathon will go on as well.
Kristin and Reed will actually be helping New York City "Race to Recover",
"NYRR has created the 2012 ING New York City Marathon Race to Recover Fund and will donate at least $1 million, or $26.20 for each of the more than 40,000 runners expected to participate in the race. The Marathon Race to Recover Fund will support a number of charities involved in relief efforts, including the Mayor’s Fund and the American Red Cross.
'NYRR’s thoughts and prayers go out to all of those impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy,” said Mary Wittenberg, president and CEO of NYRR. “On Sunday, as runners cross the five boroughs, we want them to bring with them a sense of hope and resilience. The marathon is not just a race—it’s about helping NYC find its way on the road to recovery.'"
Be safe and good luck Kristin and Reed!! We look forward to your pictures and stories. Stay tuned for updates later this weekend and next week.
