(WHAS11) -- More than 2,000 people turned out to pay respects to a Southeast Christian Church Minister. Matthew Davidson led worship at the Oldham County Campus.

Davidson was in a head-on collision on Covered Bridge Road. He survived the crash, but died later on July 7 during surgery after complications that caused a blood clot to go straight to his heart. Pastor Dave Stone says it was shocking since  everyone felt he was making a full recovery.

"He was improving, he had beat this car accident. He was recovering, then everything changed. Didn't turn out the way we thought it was gonna turn out,"said Pastor Stone.

For the past year and a half he was the worship minster at Southeast 's Oldham Campus. Throughout the hour long service Thursday clips were played of Davidson singing the songs he loved to sing with his congregation.

Davidson recently celebrated his 13th wedding anniversary and he has three children ages 11, five and two.

He was the type of man, husband and father others aspired to become.
