LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- For 29 years now, workers from Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant have hosted an Adopt-a-Child Christmas party, giving needy children a holiday they would normally never have. This year, they raised $40,000 for 212 kids from the Volunteers of America shelter, Newburg Boys and Girls Club, Haven House and Childplace.

The number of needy children has grown so much, the party had to be split into two events. Children were treated to pizza, face painting, a magic show, a visit with Santa and Christmas gifts.

Businesses like Subway and Bearno’s provided the food for the parties. The assembly plant workers spent all year raising the money and personally shopping for the gifts.
