GARRETT, Ind. (WHAS11) – There’s a four-legged vandal that’s broken into an elementary school and it was all caught on video.
A young buck burst through the computer lab windows of Garrett’s K-12 building and breaks out a different window.
The deer ran full speed toward a set of doors, slamming into them head first.
Jim Slain, Garrett’s Director of School Safety, says this isn’t the first time a deer has broken into the school.
“This is the third one we’ve had. For some reason it comes this time of year. Guess they need a good education, so that’s why they’re coming here,” he said. “5 minutes later, this classroom probably would have had 15 to 20 elementary kids in it. Luckily there was nobody in the classroom.”
Slain says he was thankful no one came into contact with the deer and that the deer broke in before any kids were in the school.
Maintenance crews quickly replaced the broken windows and cleaned up the broken glass and blood.
