More and more people are locked into long term contracts for their communication services and getting out of those deals can be a challenge.
We could do a story every day based on the calls sent to our Consumer Watch department from people who are fighting with their phone and internet providers. Let’s face it, these are big companies and sometimes the little guy gets lost in the red tape.
These days communication services are the heart of our lifestyle. And, losing them is often like losing a life line. Over the last few years both the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List has cellular phone providers as one of their most complained about categories.
Amber Conners said she became one of those frustrated customers when she switched providers.
Some of the common complaints include dropped calls, outages, slow internet service, billing disputes long wait times, and service issues.
Angie Hicks from Angie's List said consumers need to contact their provider. She also said consumers need to be prepared for the phone call.
- Have the facts at your fingertips, it will make you a better negotiator.
- Explain the consequences if you're not satisfied and be assertive, but not angry.
- Tell the person on the other line you have a problem and you need some help.
