(WHAS11) -- On Sunday the Clark County Sheriff's Department organized an event to raise money for a Henryville man with muscular dystrophy.

25-year-old Justin Davis is in a wheelchair and was recently placed on a trach machine so he can breathe.

His family is raising money to buy a van, because friends say it's difficult for Justin to get into their current vehicle.

“The struggle that that kid has to go through to get into the van that they currently have. It's remarkable. He just wants this van he can go out and enjoy life the best way he can,” said Maj. Chuck Adams, Clark County Sheriff’s Department.

The family has raised $7,000 for Justin and said they will hold more events in the future to reach their goal of $20,000.
