City of Jeffersonville helps residents 'beat the heat'

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- The city of Jeffersonville has opened up a cooling center to help residents beat the heat.

The center is located at the Ken Ellis Senior Center at 1425 Pennsylvania Avenue. Residents can enjoy the air conditioning and free bottled water.

The parks department is also offering half-price admission to the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The cooling center is open until 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7p.m.

The city is looking for volunteers to help with the heat relief effort-- as well as donations of fans or bottled water.
