(WHAS11) -- Wednesday, August 1 is unofficially Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. Approximately 600,000 people on Facebook accepted an invitation to show their support for the chain by eating there on August 1.
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee called for the "Appreciation Day" after the restaurant found itself in the middle of a controversy. Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy recently said he believes in the biblical definition of marriage - between a man and a woman. Though he also says he loves and respects anyone who disagrees.
Supporters of same-sex marriage have accused the chain of discriminating against gays.
