Big Hit half marathon returning to Louisville with new race addition

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- The "Big Hit" half marathon is returning to Louisville for a second year.

The event is sponsored by Republic Bank.

The course takes runners past some of Louisville’s most famous landmarks.

It starts at Witherspoon and Preston, near Waterfront Park, and ends at Slugger Field.

  Runners will pass the KFC Yum! Center, the Ali Center and the Jim Patterson Baseball Stadium along the way.

 “Another really neat addition that we will grow this year is our kids race, which will feature a 100, 200 and 400 yard dash for kids up to 12 years of age, which will happen on Saturday the 22nd of September, also right here at Slugger Field.,” says  Matt Roberts, the Executive Director of Jam Brands Sports.

The race is coming up Sunday, September 23.

Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana.
