(WHAS11)  It was just in September that we showed you a happy Bryson Livingston tossing pizza and his Big Sister, Leah Pezzarossi, was telling us what a great young teenager he is.

In late October, luck, for Bryson’s real family changed into a nightmare; his mother’s home was hit by robbers.

Michelle Livingston, Bryson’s mother said, “They ransacked my son’s room; everything.”  Michelle is a single mom now, raising five children; most of them very young.

While the thieves were in her house that day, unbeknownst to her at the time, they stole the spare keys to her car.  They came back November 1 and stole the car out of the driveway.

So now, the effort is on at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana to restore this family’s life to normal in time for the holidays.  Big Sister Leah reached out for help on behalf of the struggling family.

Two of the little ones Michelle is raising in this energetic bunch, are her grandchildren.  Instead of complaining about raising more children, Bryson has stepped up to help his mom.

And Joe Bargione, a Big Brothers volunteer and JCPS department head, said he and his staff are chipping in cash out of their own pockets.  “One thing I noticed, it’s a family that does not complain, even in the face of a terrible invasion into their lives they have held together,” said Bargione.
