(WHAS11) -- The latest census figures just released, that are focusing on Kentuckiana, show that once again, the Hispanic and Asian populations are growing in the Louisville Metro area.

A few years ago Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana started a big push reaching out with its Hispanic Leadership Council.

Now the leader of that council has his own Little Brother to guide.

Sixty-six-year-old Tomas Aguilera is a Big Brothers veteran and he's a fierce competitor.

And meet his competition, 12-year-old Davel Ortiz who is his new Little Brother.

Tomas has opened the world for Davel. His parents wanted him in the program because they're lives are so busy.

Both Tomas and Davel are Cuban and their connection is strong after just four outings.

Tomas has been a Big Brother for 20 years. He's also heading up the organization's Hispanic Leadership Council.

Summer is a great time to volunteer. You've got a lot of options to keep you busy. And as we've discovered, even people with their own families and busy jobs, love to be Big Brothers or Big Sisters.
