LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- One of the amazing trends we've noticed over 21 years of reporting on people who volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters is the effort is ageless.
From 20-year-olds, to those in their 70s, folks in Kentuckiana are finding time to give back. And we'd have to say one woman in St. Matthews really lucked out with her match.
This team is big sister, 73-year-old Lucretia Beatty, and her little sister of two years, 10-year-old Zarreya Hines.
Their mission: a batch of sugar cookies for themselves and the staff down here at WHAS.
At 73, Lucretia is one of 60 active big sisters over the age of 55 according to the organization.
Zarreya is a bright student from Sanders Elementary School.
Lucretia has urged Zarreya to get active and she picks her up each Saturday. They love to explore in the car and different areas.
Lucretia is a straight shooter and believes that's the success to their match.
And what a character Zarreya is. We had to sample the results of their team effort.
And don't forget, this is the holiday season. If you have any tickets to sporting events, plays or basketball games that you can't use you may consider donating them to Big Brothers Big Sisters. They'll get them into good hands and what a gift!
