BARDSTOWN, Ky.(WHAS11) -- the Jailer's Inn Bed and Breakfast in Bardstown has been named number one on the Trip Advisor's list of the "Quirkiest Lodgings in America."
The Jailer's Inn used to be the Nelson County jail and one of the rooms is even decorated like a cell, complete with bunk beds.
Thousands of people across the nation have been doing time at the inn.
“This was a jail built in 1819 used as the county jail until 1987. It closed 25 years ago; when it closed it was the oldest operating jail in the state,” owner Paul McCoy said.
After being booked, guests are given jail keys to get into their room, and if you'd like there's a special room.
“We have one of the jail cells that we have in the back that we've converted into a bed and breakfast room. It still looks like a jail cell,” McCoy said.
There are seven suites at the Jailer’s Inn. It’s become a popular place for honeymooners, bourbon tour guests, and even ghost hunters. Many people claim the jail is haunted.
You don't have to stay the night to see the Jailer's Inn, tours are $5 for adults and $3 for kids.
