BUCKNER, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Baptist Hospital Northeast has officially taken over Oldham County EMS.
The agreement was signed Tuesday morning in Buckner. The outsourcing agreement was made as the county dealt with an $800,000 short fall.
Officials said residents who call for paramedics won't notice much change in service.
“I believe the community will find this transition to be seamless. People who need help will still dial 911 to get help and they will be able to choose any health care facility of their choice,” David Voegele, Oldham County judge-executive, said.
Under the agreement, current employees will keep their jobs but must reapply.
The agreement will go into effect July 1.
