LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—Students at UK join together each for the largest student ran philanthropy in the state.

It’s a 24-hour dance marathon to raise money for the UK Pediatric Oncology Clinic at the UK Hospital, named DanceBlue.

During the 2014 marathon, students raised more than $1.4 million during the course of the year. Their influence has spread to high schools across the state for “mini-marathons.”

On Friday, students from Ballard High School will participate in their own mini-marathon from 6 p.m. until midnight.

Students will be dancing in the gym of Kammerer Middle School for Friday’s marathon, since Ballard’s gym is getting some repairs after a leak onto the basketball floor near the end of the basketball season.
