Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Louisville is fortunate to have a lot of history still standing all around us.

But what about our early history, when this was a wild river town?

A team of archaeologists have just pinpointed the first business that sold pottery, plates, cups, and everyday ware to residents. They found it near Slugger Field, but also uncovered an American first.

The dig site has been drawing small crowds of onlookers everyday near Slugger Field.

WHAS11’s Doug Proffitt has the story, just click on the video player above to watch.
