LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Amazon bought Zappos three years ago and now Zappos officials have decided to take over the Amazon name.

In a memo to employees Zappos officials say that it is the best way to grow the brand and business over the next 10 years.

The goal is to transition all of Zappos Mount Washington operations to Amazon by September 1.

The memo states that every Kentucky employee will have the opportunity to keep their jobs through the transition. There will be no layoffs, but there could be some job function changes.

Zappos, best known for their online shoe sales,  was created over 13 years ago in San Francisco. Amazon bought Zappo's three years ago.
