On 9/11 in Jeffersonville, the mayor is speaking at a remembrance ceremony. On the city's website, Mayor Mike Moore wrote, "today and every day we salute those who make our country so strong. The city of Jeffersonville joins the nation in saluting those first responders who sacrifice so much to keep our community safe."
Also, from sun up til sun down, you can see the United States flag moving all across Louisville in remembrance of the heroes and victims of 9-11. Members of Team Red-White-and-Blue are running the flag all morning between the corner of Bardstown Road to Eastern Parkway. The moving tribute lasts until eight this evening.
Schools in Kentuckiana are also remembering the attacks. At Portland Elementary School, students sang the National Anthem and gathered to hear a local firefighter speak about the importance of serving others. At Hite Elementary, students, parents, firefighters, police officers, and the Middletown Mayor gathered to lower the flag to half-staff.
In remembrance, all TARC vehicles will stop briefly to observe the 12th anniversary of the attacks. The drivers will pull over at 1 p.m. for a one-minute moment of silence.
