LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)- A youth group with the goal of keeping Louisville’s kids away from gang activity has been the victim of arson.
Sunday, the Shawnee Youth Golden Eagles program is trying to figure out how to replace $7,000-$8,000 in athletic equipment they use to run their program.
The youth group provides children in west Louisville with football, cheerleading and basketball programs.
They bought the athletic equipment with money they raised through fundraisers like bake sales and car washes.
But youth group is getting some help to replace the equipment. The Amobi Okoye Foundation's “Kick off for Kids” program will be donating a portion of the proceeds from their upcoming camp in Louisville to the Shawnee Golden Eagles.
