Joe Arnold

Joe joined WHAS11 in 1998 as a reporter on Good Morning Kentuckiana. In 2001, Joe began a five-year run as anchor of the top-rated newscast.
Joe now anchors the 6pm and 11pm newscasts on Saturday and Sunday nights on WHAS11, and the 10pm weekend newscasts on WBKI-TV.
As a reporter, Joe loves digging into stories, from staking out drug dealers to researching Louisville's gas prices. He follows Ford Motor Company developments closely and has looked out for drivers on the "Pothole Patrol."
Religion and faith stories include the first local clergy abuse victim to go public, and detailed reports from the church's perspective. A series of reports on Islam after 9-11 led to recognition from the American Muslim Association.
The Associated Press awarded Joe's story on WWI Veteran Robley Rex as the best feature story in Kentucky in 2003.
Joe is very active in the community including the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Council on Mental Retardation and March of Dimes.
Joe is a former talk show host on 84WHAS and WWKY (now WKRD)radio, dating back to 1994.
A 1988 graduate of Lindenwood College with a triple major in Mass Communications, History and Political Science, Joe has also been a professional actor and singer, touring regionally and nationally.
A baseball fan, Joe served as Cardinal Stadium's public address announcer for the Louisville Redbirds for three years. He is a cantor at Holy Trinity Parish.
Joe married Whitney Thacker in 2003. Their son Samuel was born in 2004 and Henry in 2006. The boys occupy most of his time.... when he's not standing in potholes.
