SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY EVENING
- A few strong thunderstorms
- Gusty winds
- 1/4''-3/4'' rainfall possible
Although the rain Wednesday could cool our temperatures down a bit, we are still expecting to reach above average temperatures for mid-October. Highs are expected to be in the low 80s Wednesday afternoon. With the warmth, wind energy, and cold front over the area, we have the ingredients available for a few strong to severe storms.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Marginal Risk for our area (5% probability). There's a slightly higher chance of severe storms to our southwest (in yellow), which is a Slight Risk.
- Expect showers and a few thunderstorms Wednesday, especially after sunset.
- Best chance for locally severe storms in Southern Indiana.
Below is our Exclusive Severe Weather Index:
Notice the northern half of our viewing area, especially Southern Indiana, has the best combination of severe weather ingredients to potentially produce a few severe storms.
7:30 am: Plan for a wet morning commute and grab that rain gear just in case. Showers will be possible heading out the door Wednesday morning.
12:30 pm: No need to cancel any outdoor plans Wednesday afternoon, as we do not expect a complete washout. Again, bring the umbrella just in case!
Higher chance for heavier showers and a few strong thunderstorms after 6:00 pm.
IN OTHER NEWS.....COOL DOWN THIS WEEKEND
High pressure will take over on Friday, bringing dry and much cooler conditions along with it.
7 DAY FORECAST:
As you know, temperatures have been far above average for our usual mid to late October weather. For instance, our low this morning (72°) is the new record holder for the latest 70°+ low temperature. One note, our low this morning will actually far surpass our highs for this weekend! it's going to feel like quite the change to transition into highs in the 60s and dropping to the 40s overnight. However, we expect to swing back up to the lower 70s for the start of the work week.
11 DAY TREND: GOODBYE FOR NOW 80s!!!
At least we can plan on not seeing any more 80° spans back to back to back.. It's safe to say we have seen the warmest temperatures that we'll see until next April.
