It’s the official arrival of spring as of 12:15 pm Eastern time on this Tuesday but Mother Nature has other plans thanks to an upper level low set to stall out just east of Kentuckiana. Moisture will wrap around the backside of this system today as breezy north winds usher in some colder air. Temperatures will be chilly with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s before dropping to around freezing by Wednesday morning. Scattered showers later today should be mixed with a few snowflakes during the late afternoon hours before we see a changeover to all snow by this evening. The light snow is expected to continue overnight and into Wednesday morning as pieces of energy rotate around the stalled out low. Much of Kentuckiana is looking at some slushy accumulations by tomorrow with a general 1”-3” snow possible with localized higher amounts from the metro and points east. The Wednesday morning commute should be impacted with secondary and untreated roads having the best chance of seeing some slicks spots. The good news is that with temperatures recovering a bit Wednesday afternoon, any snow should melt on the roadways.

We are looking dry for the late week, other than a weak wave that could bring a light wintry mix Thursday night and into Friday morning. Highs will recover into the upper 40s and low 50s as we look for our rain chances to pick up toward the weekend. Another storm system will arrive on Saturday with showers and a few storms before we catch a break to end the weekend on Sunday. We should warm up a bit into early next week with potentially more unsettled weather to come. Have a great Tuesday!
