We saw another round heavy rain during the early morning hours on this Friday across Kentuckiana with many locations around the metro area picking up a 1" plus rainfall and some quick flash flooding issues. While the early morning rain has shifted eastward we are still looking at occasional rain from time to time as a weak frontal boundary shifts north of the area. This will allow afternoon highs to be milder into the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.

With an area of low pressure and a cold front set to move through late Saturday and into Sunday morning, additional moderate to heavy rain will be possible into the weekend, especially Saturday night. We could see a round of severe weather potentially as the front cmoes through Saturday night so be prepared for that possibility. Between today and Sunday morning, a few more inches of rain will be likely and this will increase the flood threat along the Ohio River over the weekend and through next week. A Flood Watch is out for much of Kentuckiana until Sunday morning at 7am Eastern with a Flood Warning along the Ohio River until further notice.

With an additional 1"-4" rain totals possible by the time everything wraps up on Sunday, the Upper Gauge of the Ohio River, which impacts downtown Louisville is now forecasted to crest at the moderate flooding stage of around 34 feet early next week but with the additional rain early Friday, the forecasted crest is apt to go higher later into next week. The Lower gauge of the Ohio River downstream toward New Albany will rise now into the moderate flood stage for that area and just like the Upper Gauge will probably crest even higher than currently forecast due to recent rain.
