FLOYD CO., Ind. (WHAS11) -- A deadly head-on crash on I-64 west Monday morning in Floyd County claimed the life of a local woman and injured two others.
The crash happened near the 114 mile marker between Georgetown and Lanesville around 9 a.m.
Officials said the driver of a Hummer was traveling east on I-64 and crossed into the westbound lanes, striking and killing the driver of a Ford Fusion.
The driver was identified as 34-year-old Patricia Colwell of Georgetown, Ind. A boy traveling with her was also seriously injured and taken to UofL hospital.
The driver of the Hummer sustained minor injuries.
Officers said the debris field was so large, a third car was hit by a wheel that flew off the Hummer. Fortunately, that third driver was not hurt.
