LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- UofL Interim President Gregory Postel expects to announce an interim Athletics Director on Tuesday, Oct. 3, during a news conference that is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

Postel said the interim AD would be announced on Tuesday as a special meeting of the Board of Trustees ended on Oct. 2.

The board went into executive session. The meeting was closed from the public just before 9:30 a.m. Monday where they stayed for nearly two hours. After emerging they would only say they discussed employment and litigation and they had nothing else to report.

The big question, did they vote to fire Coach Rick Pitino or Athletic Director Tom Jurich? Postel would only say no one was fired at Monday’s meeting.

For the first time, WHAS11 got a copy of letters written by Postel to both Pitino and Jurich in which he informed each that they were being placed on leave. Both letters addressed the FBI investigation Doctor Postel described as "disturbing and unprecedented" in its allegations and willful misconduct.

While Pitino's contract states he needs ten days notice before firing, the letter from Postel described Pitino's unpaid leave as lasting until April 30, 2018, the end of the next basketball season.

Pressure is beginning to mount on social media and there are suggestions, behind the scenes, of high-level donors pushing to save Jurich's job.

Postel did not directly say whether he's getting an earful from the Cardinal community.
