LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A call for missing toddler turned into tragedy Saturday after authorities found the body of the little girl in a neighboring west Louisville swimming pool.
Metro Police say officers first received a call about the toddler missing from Saunders Lane around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police started searching for the child and say they found her in a pool at nearby home off 23rd Street.
“Well it’s a hard thing. It’s a hard pill to swallow, losing a young one at that age. My prayers are for them,” George Page, a neighbor said.
Page said he saw a woman earlier in the day asking him if he had seen a little girl walking around the street.
He says he also saw police getting the girl out of the pool, saying he saw the girl around the neighborhood before.
LMPD says the investigation is being handled by its homicide division.
