LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)--The Omni Hotel opened for business Tuesday.
One of the big selling points for the Omni is the space available to house visitors from large conventions visiting our restaurants, bars, the waterfront and other local attractions.
Seven hundred employees have been working around the clock the last couple of weeks to prepare the hotel for opening day.
What makes this new hotel special you ask? You can sample food and champagne in Bob's Steakhouse, there's the Speakeasy bowling alley, Mokara Spa and Falls City marketplace which is pretty affordable.
Tuesday guests will get a glance at the hotels, meeting spaces, the spa and pool area. Overall, the hotel is open to the public aside from the pool area. One of the main areas you can hang out in is the library.
The first guest officially walks in at 3 p.m. and the hotel is putting them up for the night.
Introductory price in March begins at $144. Rates average about $179-$299 a night.
For people looking to stay longer, the Omni General Manager said they've already leased more than 20 of the Omni apartments with the first residents moving in May 15 with more in June and July.
